Practice Technologies, Inc. is happy to announce that Peter Ozolin has joined the firm as Vice President, Enterprise Solutions. In this role, Ozolin will head the Company’s Enterprise Solutions Unit, which includes RealPractice™, Practice Technologies’ popular Work Product Retrieval product. Peter comes to Practice Technologies after serving as Chief Technology Officer/Chief Knowledge Officer at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, a 950-attorney law firm with 15 offices in the U.S. and abroad.
“Peter has built an excellent reputation in the legal field as a technology visionary,” said Rudolph DeFelice, President & CEO of Practice Technologies. “He has a great track record of success, and he is extremely well respected in law firm technology circles. We pride ourselves on knowing our customers better than anyone in the business. Peter’s understanding of the issues facing law firms, and his track record of success implementing technologies, deepens our bench, and will be a great asset to our customers.”
“My experience at Paul Hastings was remarkable,” Ozolin said. “They’re a top-notch firm, and they were extremely supportive of my efforts to create a new approach to firm-wide Knowledge Management and Work Product Retrieval. While I enjoyed my time at Paul Hastings, I’ve always been attracted to the entrepreneurial side of technology. In my former role, I had the opportunity to speak to many technology vendors, and I was incredibly impressed with both the vision, diligence, and results-oriented attitude of the team at Practice Technologies. All this was evident throughout the roll-out process of RealPractice™ at the firm. There was an old electric shaver commercial where a fellow claimed he bought the company after getting such a great shave from the company’s razor. I guess you could say that I was so impressed with Practice Technologies that when an opportunity presented itself to join the company, I jumped at the chance.”
At Paul Hastings, Ozolin oversaw the selection of technology applications as related to practice and client support, knowledge management and library services for the firm, as well as the management/development of web based applications. Peter was also responsible for the development and execution of the firm’s knowledge initiatives. Before joining Paul Hastings, Peter was a co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of AchieveOne, a provider of legal services automation software, which merged with a Seattle based company, DealPlanner, a company providing transaction process management software to professionals (deal spaces). Prior to AchieveOne, Peter was the founder and President of Legal Anywhere, a provider of extranet solutions for the legal market. While at Legal Anywhere his team sold to over 125 large law firms nationwide and corporate legal departments such as Safeway, Bell Atlantic, American Airlines, Kawasaki, Caterpillar, etc. Niku Corporation (NASDQ:NIKU) acquired Legal Anywhere in 2000. Post acquisition, Peter served as Niku's Vice President and General Manager for the Legal Profession. Peter has published numerous articles in periodicals such as Law Technology Product News, National Law Journal, Corporate Legal Times and LawNet's Peer to Peer publication. Peter has also presented at nationwide conferences and tradeshows such as Legal Tech, Legal Technology Summit, LawNet and the American Bar Association's Tech Show. He holds a joint degree, JD/MBA, from Willamette University.
